The 2009-2010 North Compass yearbook will go on sale Aug.24 through Sept. 4 for $40; subsequent sales will be $45 per book so order early. Checks should be made out to North High School and sent to the attention of Mr. Martin in the Journalism Department; please place your student’s name and grade in the memo section of your check. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Martin at scot.martin@evsc.k12.in.us or at 812-435-8888 ext. 42114.

 School Picture Sales:

School picture ordering packets will be distributed during the first two weeks of school. School pictures are scheduled for Tuesday, August 25; picture day for absentees/retakes will be announced later in September. Parents who need an extra school picture order form/envelope my pick one up in the counselors’ office or room 20 (Mr. Martin). Students are not required to purchase photos, but they are required to have one taken; the pictures are used for the yearbook, the dining center and library, and school IDs. Students who attend class off-campus may sit for a photo immediately before or after school in the PAC. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Martin.

 Senior Yearbook Pictures:

For a number of years, parents and students have questioned if a senior’s picture (in the senior section of the yearbook) could be replaced by a professional photo from a senior photo packet. Until this year, replacing photos has not been possible. However, this year, we are going to offer this option to see how it works out. Seniors may submit a professional photo to be published in the senior section in place of the school photograph. (Students must still sit for a school photograph). Any senior parent wishing to take advantage of this opportunity should have a hard copy or and electronic copy of their student’s senior photo to me by December 1. There will be a charge of $15 for the replacement; checks should be made out to North Journalism and accompany the replacement photograph. Contact Mr. Martin with questions.

                           Healthy Hoosier School Outlook

The Healthy Hoosier School Award was developed by Indiana Action for Healthy Kids.  The Award honors Indiana schools that have policies and educational programs in place to promote good nutrition and increased physical activity among their students.  Beth Foland, a Registered Dietitian with the Indiana Department of Education and Indiana Action for Healthy Kids liaison said, “We are extremely pleased with this year’s results.  The application process itself requires committed leadership, so for 66 schools to receive awards represents a significant trend.  We applaud these schools for placing a high priority on teaching children healthy habits that will last a lifetime.”   Please click on above link to read more.

Check out our calendar listed under Event Schedule!!!!!
You may also view your other favorite school's athletic and school events at www.highschoolsports.net.

"On the first day of school, students were given a copy of the Student Conduct: Rights, Responsibilities, Discipline Policy And Student Rules. Students were required to sign for the receipt of these rules. If you did not have a chance to review the rules and would like to have a copy, please call the school office."

FAR System to Help EVSC Recover Funds More Efficiently

The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation has elected to use an outside company to recover returned checks that have been used to pay for school lunches.  No longer will the district or school staff arrange for the repayment of checks returned for non-sufficient funds.  The Federal Automated Recovery Systems (FARS) will now be responsible for the electronic collection of non-sufficient funds checks turned in to any school or district account.

The EVSC will gladly accept your checks.  When you provide a check as payment, you authorize the EVSC to either use information from the check to make a one-time electronic fund transfer from your account or to process the payment as a check transaction. You also are authorizing FARS to collect a $20 fee through an electronic fund transfer from your account if your payment is returned unpaid.

If you have any questions about this system, please email EVSC Director of Food and Nutrition Pat Barsumian at pat.barsumian@evsc.k12.in.us or call the Office of Food and Nutrition at 435-8258.
